A Week by Week Look at a Bozeman Excavation Timeline

Most people picture excavation as one loud, dusty week of machines tearing up dirt. On a real Gallatin County project it is more like a relay, where each phase hands off to the next on a set schedule. Here is how a typical Bozeman dig moves from a raw parcel to a build-ready pad, and where the delays usually hide.

Week One: Locates, Staking, and the Plan

Nothing gets dug until the 811 Call Before You Dig locate is filed and the utilities mark their lines, which takes about two business days. While those marks go down, we stake the site to the grading plan and confirm elevations. Where Timelines Slip

The two most common delays are a late 811 locate and a surprise in the soil, like rock or a high water table. Both are manageable when they are planned for and expensive when they are not. That is the whole case for a scheduled dig over a book-it-and-hope one.
