A Kitchen Remodeler That Starts at the Tap

Pmcsmith remodels kitchens in Palm Springs and the nearby valley towns. The work ranges from a single faucet that has stopped behaving to a full kitchen with new cabinets, counters and lighting, and nearly all of it has one thing in common. The water here is hard, and it quietly shortens the life of anything it runs through.

We did not set out to specialize in that. It happened because the same problems kept showing up on every job. A shutoff valve that crumbled when it was turned. A two year old faucet with a cartridge packed with white grit. A dishwasher blamed for bad detergent when the real issue was a hardness setting nobody had changed from the factory default. After enough of those, it made sense to plan every kitchen around the water from the first visit.

How We Work

Every visit starts under the sink. We look at the stops, the supply lines, the drain and the condition of the pipe coming out of the wall, because those decide what the job really involves. Homes built in the 1950s and 60s in neighborhoods like Twin Palms and Racquet Club Estates often sit on slabs with older plumbing inside them, and moving a sink in one of those houses is a very different job from swapping a faucet in place.

We price repair before replacement. If a cartridge, an aerator or a settings change will solve the problem, that is what we recommend, even when it is a short visit.

When parts do need to be replaced, we choose them for serviceability. Standard cartridges, quarter turn valves, braided supply lines, finishes that hide mineral spotting, and appliances installed so they can be pulled, descaled and put back.

Working Around the Desert

Summer afternoons in Palm Springs are hard on people and on materials. Between June and September we start early, schedule deliveries for the cool part of the day, and respect cure times for sealants and adhesives. For vacation rentals we plan around booking calendars so a kitchen is not torn apart on a busy weekend.
